Herbs For Fertility

Herbs For Fertility

The second herb I’d like to discuss in this series on herbs for fertility is Black Cohosh. It is a native shrub of North America and can grow up to 8 feet tall. The shrub is easily recognised by its tall stalks of fluffy white flowers. Black Cohosh has estrogenic properties and it has been used in the past by Native Americans to help alleviate menopausal symptoms. [Read more →]

If you are seriously considering IVF then you have probably realised already that trying to find out success rates of centres is quite difficult not to mention the individual success rates of the IVF doctors within those centres. You would be wise to choose your IVF doctor carefully, here’s why. [Read more →]

Lunar Cycle Fertility

Is there such a thing as lunar cycle fertility? Well some say absolutely yes, although you’re not likely to have a detailed conversation about this with your fertility specialist. Back in the 1950’s Dr Eugene Jonas, a Czech psychiatrist, said that there was indeed evidence of lunar cycle fertility. [Read more →]

Ovulation Calculator - Do You Need One?

Do You Need An Ovulation Calculator? Yes And No - Here’s Why

Otherwise known as ovulation calendars, this is a tool that provides a great way to build a detailed history of your menstrual cycle and its key components. The ultimate goal of these calculators is to narrow down when it is you’re likely to ovulate, to then enable you to optimally time your conception attempts.

Narrowing down your time of ovulation is one thing, timing your conception attempts in relation to that information is another. There are only a few critical days each month that offer the maximum chance of getting pregnant, why guess when you’ll ovulate? Like I’ve already mentioned, these calculators are great for gathering information about your menstrual cycle but I don’t recommend them as a way of determining when you should attempt to conceive. Here’s why: [Read more →]
