Irregular Periods And Infertility

Irregular periods can indeed cause problems if you are trying to conceive. Normal menstrual cycles have been found to be as much as four times more fertile than cycles that are ten days or more outside the normal range! Four times greater, can you believe that?!

So we must first know what is considered the ‘normal range’ for a cycle to be considered regular? Well the ideal length is 28 days however many experts conclude that anywhere between 25 to 35 days can be considered normal.

A once off ’strange’ sort of cycle is no need for concern as this can be caused by a sleepless night, a few too many parties that month and even dieting. However a fairly consistent pattern of irregular cycles means that you need to pay some attention to what your body is trying to tell you.

You see, your body sends out many signals and they all mean something that can help you to understand what might be going wrong if you are having trouble getting pregnant. I will be covering off in the future some of the very common irregularities and what they are saying about your fertility status.

The good news is that although many symptoms associated with irregular periods are troubling, there are a great deal of ways to go about improving them. Start today by writing down some of the daily changes you experience throughout your monthly cycle. Look for my future posts on solutions to common period irregularities and work on becoming one of the women with the four times greater chance of conceiving! FertilAid for Women

Hello,
Were to start - haha, well I am 22 years old and married. My husband and I got married in May of 2008 and have been trying to concieve. The only problem is that I have very irregular periods, I’m talking once every 6 months or more or even sometimes it will be regular for like 3 months then I wont have one for another 6 months. I went to my OB/GYN and she put me on Provera, after the ten day perscription, I had a period, after that no more period. I was wondering what else can I do? I feel like i’m going crazy trying to concieve and nothing is happening, I even have names picked out. I’m 22 years old, weigh 100 pounds which is the most i’ve weighed in my whole life and i’m 5′1. I dont know what else to do i’ve searched all over the internet for help and thats when i stopped by here, please help if you can. Thanks!

Similar story, I’m 21 hubby is 24 and we’ve been trying for almost 2 1/2 years now. I finally built up the courage to go to a specialist to get help and hopefully become pregnant. So far hubby has normal sperm count, and I have very regular periods pretty much every 28 days, they did a few blood tests to make sure I’m ovulating and hormones are in balance, that all came back fine. Then i had an HSG which also showed no blockages in my tubes, healthy shaped uterus etc. Soo we are “unexplained infertility” I’m about to start Letrozole (kind of like Clomid) soon hopefully that will work, if not I guess we’ll have to save up for IVF! Good luck to you all! *Baby Dust*

Hello,

I have been married for almost 6 months now. In November I had my last period, all of December I haven’t had my Period. Can you image how excited me and my Partner were!!?? but two days ago I gotten my Period once again, I have been to the Doctor and he said that I have Thryoid problems, I have been taking pills for that, even though its been a month since I have been taking Thyroid pills, they put my Period out of track. I have missed my Period of a month and now its back again, we both are ready for a baby but I can’t seem to get any where. I am 23 years old and he is 24. It’s going to be our First. I don’t want to talk about it to other people, i can’t face my mom and tell her what is going on, cause the last time I talked to her I told her that my period is a month late, she is thinking to this day that i am Pregent and I am not. Is their anything that I can do? Should I wait longer or what is going on?

Well I hate to add another story to this but here it goes. I’ve been with my husband for three years now. I’m 30 and he’s 39, yep it may be too late but neither of us has ever had kids and we really want at least one. About 4 years ago I started having irregular periods, one every 3-6 months or longer. Before that since I was 15 or so they were always regular. I would go every month for just 3-5 days. Anyway, I don’t know what else to do. It seems like no one has posted any success stories here so that makes it even worse, like a few of you have said you can’t discuss it with family and friends…they all say the same thing…just be patient and it will happen… :( If anyone wants to discuss infertility email me at auntjessi24@aol.com.

So it appears there are several women going through this same problem.
Here’s my case;
I’ve been with my boyfriend for 3 years and havnt used protection over the last 2 years. No pregnancy. I have very irregular periods, sometimes rarely ill have a regular one for 3 months then not again for 2-6 months then again for one month etc.
I’ve been to my gp who thought it was Pcos. So I’ve had some scans of my pelvis and breasts which have come back first time with irregularities and the 2nd and 3rd time normal. I have been shown I’m ovulating (although this was proved during a scan on one of my normal period cycles).
I am now waiting for a lypid blood test and carbo loading blood test.
Another problem I’ve had in the past was with oral contraceptives. The pill creates a massive problem for me. Instead of making my period regular which was the reason the doctor put me on them they make my period continuous everyday for 3 or so months or until the pill it out of my system.
This never used to happen to me when I was younger it was always normal. I had an abortion at 16. Very young and very silly. I’m wondering if my problems could have stemed from this.

Please help me!!!

My husband and I have been married for almost a year now. We have been trying to conceive for 2 years. I have always been irregular. MISSING PERIODS FOR MORE THAN A YEAR! This has been happening since i was 12! I would be a wonderful mother. I ve done so much, even standing on my head. After I grad. from college i didnt have any insurance and my work does not provide insurance. My husband and I are missing one thing in our life, and thats a baby. I see so many people who dont deserve having kids and I would do anything in this world to be a mother and feel my baby kick me all the time =)
Please help me, im going insane trying all these different methods and it hurts me, I cry all the time. I need help =/
