Irregular Periods And Infertility
Irregular periods can indeed cause problems if you are trying to conceive. Normal menstrual cycles have been found to be as much as four times more fertile than cycles that are ten days or more outside the normal range! Four times greater, can you believe that?!
So we must first know what is considered the ‘normal range’ for a cycle to be considered regular? Well the ideal length is 28 days however many experts conclude that anywhere between 25 to 35 days can be considered normal.
A once off ’strange’ sort of cycle is no need for concern as this can be caused by a sleepless night, a few too many parties that month and even dieting. However a fairly consistent pattern of irregular cycles means that you need to pay some attention to what your body is trying to tell you.
You see, your body sends out many signals and they all mean something that can help you to understand what might be going wrong if you are having trouble getting pregnant. I will be covering off in the future some of the very common irregularities and what they are saying about your fertility status.
The good news is that although many symptoms associated with irregular periods are troubling, there are a great deal of ways to go about improving them. Start today by writing down some of the daily changes you experience throughout your monthly cycle. Look for my future posts on solutions to common period irregularities and work on becoming one of the women with the four times greater chance of conceiving! FertilAid for Women

Hello,
Were to start - haha, well I am 22 years old and married. My husband and I got married in May of 2008 and have been trying to concieve. The only problem is that I have very irregular periods, I’m talking once every 6 months or more or even sometimes it will be regular for like 3 months then I wont have one for another 6 months. I went to my OB/GYN and she put me on Provera, after the ten day perscription, I had a period, after that no more period. I was wondering what else can I do? I feel like i’m going crazy trying to concieve and nothing is happening, I even have names picked out. I’m 22 years old, weigh 100 pounds which is the most i’ve weighed in my whole life and i’m 5′1. I dont know what else to do i’ve searched all over the internet for help and thats when i stopped by here, please help if you can. Thanks!

HELLO MY NAME IS NONI, AND LIKE A LOT OF OTHER WOMEN I WAS READING A COUPLE OF STORIES, AND A FEW OF THEM WERE SIMILIAR TO MINE, I AM 25 YEARS OLD AND MARRIED TO MY HUSBAND FOR 1 MONTH BUT WE HAVE BEEN TRYING TO CONCIEVE FOR 3 YEARS NOW BUT IT HAS NEVER WORKED OUT, I HAVE IRREGULAR PERIODS, AND I MEAN LIKE ONCE EVERY9-10 MONTHS. IT’S BEEN THIS WAY SINCE I FIRST STARTED AT 18 AND SOMETIMES IT’LL COME EVERY 3 MONTHS BUT IT’S ONCE A BLUE MOON THAT THAT HAPPENS, I AM REALLY LOOKING FORWARD IN BEING A MOTHER ONE DAY, BUT WHAT DO I DO, I AM GOING CRAZY THINKING IN MANY WAYS HOW CAN I COME OUT PREGNANT, BUT DON’T FIND AN ANSWER. Similar story, I’m 21 hubby is 24 and we’ve been trying for almost 2 1/2 years now. I finally built up the courage to go to a specialist to get help and hopefully become pregnant. So far hubby has normal sperm count, and I have very regular periods pretty much every 28 days, they did a few blood tests to make sure I’m ovulating and hormones are in balance, that all came back fine. Then i had an HSG which also showed no blockages in my tubes, healthy shaped uterus etc. Soo we are “unexplained infertility” I’m about to start Letrozole (kind of like Clomid) soon hopefully that will work, if not I guess we’ll have to save up for IVF! Good luck to you all! *Baby Dust*
how to get pregnant as i have polysistic overies.
Hello,
I have been married for almost 6 months now. In November I had my last period, all of December I haven’t had my Period. Can you image how excited me and my Partner were!!?? but two days ago I gotten my Period once again, I have been to the Doctor and he said that I have Thryoid problems, I have been taking pills for that, even though its been a month since I have been taking Thyroid pills, they put my Period out of track. I have missed my Period of a month and now its back again, we both are ready for a baby but I can’t seem to get any where. I am 23 years old and he is 24. It’s going to be our First. I don’t want to talk about it to other people, i can’t face my mom and tell her what is going on, cause the last time I talked to her I told her that my period is a month late, she is thinking to this day that i am Pregent and I am not. Is their anything that I can do? Should I wait longer or what is going on?
Well I hate to add another story to this but here it goes. I’ve been with my husband for three years now. I’m 30 and he’s 39, yep it may be too late but neither of us has ever had kids and we really want at least one. About 4 years ago I started having irregular periods, one every 3-6 months or longer. Before that since I was 15 or so they were always regular. I would go every month for just 3-5 days. Anyway, I don’t know what else to do. It seems like no one has posted any success stories here so that makes it even worse, like a few of you have said you can’t discuss it with family and friends…they all say the same thing…just be patient and it will happen…
If anyone wants to discuss infertility email me at auntjessi24@aol.com.
So it appears there are several women going through this same problem.
Here’s my case;
I’ve been with my boyfriend for 3 years and havnt used protection over the last 2 years. No pregnancy. I have very irregular periods, sometimes rarely ill have a regular one for 3 months then not again for 2-6 months then again for one month etc.
I’ve been to my gp who thought it was Pcos. So I’ve had some scans of my pelvis and breasts which have come back first time with irregularities and the 2nd and 3rd time normal. I have been shown I’m ovulating (although this was proved during a scan on one of my normal period cycles).
I am now waiting for a lypid blood test and carbo loading blood test.
Another problem I’ve had in the past was with oral contraceptives. The pill creates a massive problem for me. Instead of making my period regular which was the reason the doctor put me on them they make my period continuous everyday for 3 or so months or until the pill it out of my system.
This never used to happen to me when I was younger it was always normal. I had an abortion at 16. Very young and very silly. I’m wondering if my problems could have stemed from this.
Please help me!!!
I forgot to mention that I am now 21years old.
My husband and I have been married for almost a year now. We have been trying to conceive for 2 years. I have always been irregular. MISSING PERIODS FOR MORE THAN A YEAR! This has been happening since i was 12! I would be a wonderful mother. I ve done so much, even standing on my head. After I grad. from college i didnt have any insurance and my work does not provide insurance. My husband and I are missing one thing in our life, and thats a baby. I see so many people who dont deserve having kids and I would do anything in this world to be a mother and feel my baby kick me all the time =)
Please help me, im going insane trying all these different methods and it hurts me, I cry all the time. I need help =/
Tara Jean I just want to give you a big hug! I am 25 and I have been having problems with irregular periods on and off for several years. I am also convinced that the Paragard IUD helped to further disrupt my body’s cycle by causing me to have awful, heavy periods. My doctor sent me in to have blood work and told me that my hormones are “out of wack,” and the only thing I can do to regulate them is to take birth control pills. I find this very hard to believe that hormonal issues cannot be helped in a natural way so I did some research and I have found alot of research that says Vitex Agnus castus (chasteberry) and Dong quai are trusted herbs that help correct and regulate hormones and menstrual cycle, and have found to be very helpful with fertility. Fertility Blend which is a combination of herbs has found to be very successful and can be bought online or even in GNC.
Along with these stress reduction and healthy lifestyle/diet can help, I’m sure also. I am trying dong quai, chasteberry supplements, a good multivitamin and vitamin D supplements.
Has your doctor checked your thyroid? This can be at the root of many hormonal problems. Supplements like kelp and selenium can also help to balance and support your thyroid and hormones overall.
Best wishes
As most women in the stories I read, I am having the same issues. I am 20 and my husband is 24. We have been married for 4 years now and been trying to concieve since almost a year ago. Its really hard not knowing why you are not able to get pregnant with irregular periods. Last I had my period was on New Year’s Eve in December. Its been 5 months since I last had a period. My periods are very irregular and it never was this way before I married. It’ll come one month, the next in maybe 3-6 months. I have asked my doctor what she can do to help me regulate my period so it will be easier for me to concieve and for my husband and I to start a family. We have been wanting children of our own quite a quite awhile now and been praying to recieve the gift of family.

Hi there,
Suggest you try homeopathy/acupuncture to regulate your periods as homeopathy specifically works very well. I am a homeopath if you would like some help, or find someone local. Also could be worth shaktipat to regulate your energy and just allow grace to flow.
I’m almost the oposite of every one else here. im 13 and i had sex for the first time 4 months ago and i ended up pregnant. my period is very iragular, iv gone anywhere from 3-7 months with out my period. i hadent had my period for sevon months so i thought i was safe to have sex and about three days after i had sex the doctor said my period would have happend.
