Ovulation Tests - Part 2
![]()
Following on from my previous ovulation test post, here is part two. I suggest testing at least once a day when you have finished your period and are leading into ovulation. There are a couple of days however that I highly recommend you test twice a day. Which days and why you ask?
2. Test Twice A Day
As you draw nearer to your estimated ovulation day it is of great importance to test twice a day. The reason why you need to do this is because the LH rise can occur within a twelve hour window and you could miss it. So I suggest that when you wake up in the morning do a test and then late afternoon perform another one. This will give you the best chance of capturing the positive result and really making the most of the investment you’ve made in your ovulation tests.
It might seem strange that on one hand you’re using ovulation tests to pinpoint ovulation yet on the other hand you need to guess when it will be. Well that is a little strange but the only way to be 100% sure you’ll pinpoint ovulation is to guess when it might arrive and at least two days prior start testing.
If you’ve been keeping records of your menstrual cycle you might have more clues as to your likely ovulation time but if you don’t have anything to go by then you really should start testing twice a day a little earlier. Although it is a very big myth that you will ovulate at the half way point of your cycle length you can use that as a guide but only if your cycles are quite regular and consistent in length. Counting back two or three days from your estimated date could be a reasonable estimation.
If on the other hand you have irregular cycles and varying cycle lengths then I would strongly suggest that you start testing around four to five days prior to the average mid-point of your cycles. You can of course test as many times a day as you like for as many days as you like, twice a day is fine though. Keep a written record of what your ovulation tests tell you each day, either positive or negative so you can build up a pattern over time. You mightn’t need a pattern though if you get this right as you’ll most likely fall pregnant sooner rather than later.
Testing every day and even twice a day might sound expensive but compared to IVF ovulation tests are a drop in the ocean. You can grab some bulk buy value packs of tests that even come with bonus pregnancy tests. Don’t pay inflated prices, there really is no need. You are best to buy in bulk at a discounted rate and use the tests generously so you can pinpoint ovulation with 100% accuracy.
100% accuracy just can’t be argued with and when you know you’re going to ovulate within the following 12 to 48 hours of your positive test then you will be attempting to conceive at the most optimal days of your entire cycle. What this all means is that you will increase your chances of getting pregnant to the absolute maximum and could finally be having the baby you so wish for.
Stumble it!
